Some
people find it more efficient to work using keyboard commands than
the mouse. If you are one of these people, the Adverse Drug Interactions
Program can easily accommodate you.
Here is an example of how this is done:
1.
Start
the application. The Main Window opens with the cursor ready
and waiting in the empty drug name text box.
2.
Type
in a drug name and hit enter on the keyboard. The
drug name is moved to the right-side list of drugs. The drug
name box is again empty with the cursor is waiting and ready.
Repeat this typing and entering process until all the necessary
drugs are entered into the right list. (Note: See Drug Name
Short-cut below)
3.
To
run the interactions, just hit enter when the drug
name text box is empty. The interactions report window will
come up with all the interactions information within it.
Keyboard
directional arrows, Alt-key commands, and the tab key
will allow the user to do all the things like save, delete, remove,
scroll down, etc. that need to be done beyond the simple enter and
run example above.
Drug
Name Short-cut Partially
typing a drug name will cause the left list box (with option "Auto
Scroll List Box" on) to try to look up and find the name you
are typing. When you partially type in a drug name and you see that
the scrolling list box is highlighting the drug you want, you don't
need to type any more nor do you need to grab your mouse and click
on that drug. All you need to do is hold down the "Shift"
key and press "Enter" and it will move that drug to the
List of Drugs to Check. Here's another short-cut: while typing in
your drug name, watch the drug list as the selection gets closer
to the name you are typing. Once you see the desired drug name,
use the up and down arrow keys to select you correct name.
